Responsibilities
- The Masters responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The prime role of the Master is to be able to safely and efficiently operate not only the tug of which he is directly responsible.
- They must ensure that the vessel is at all times seaworthy and ready to operate.
- The master must be fully experienced in handling tugs in all conditions, providing towage services to a range of ships varying in size and manoeuvrability.
- The Master is ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and its crew at all times, and must ensure operational readiness at all times.
- Is responsible for managing the upkeep and maintenance of the vessel, ensuring that all ships husbandry and health and safety guidelines and regulations are adhered to.
- The Master must ensure that the vessel and all personnel have valid certification, as required by STCW regulations, by customers and by the Company.
- The Master must undertake basic administrative tasks, including ensuring accurate work records are maintained, the ships’ log is kept updated, and safety inspections drills are recorded.
