Responsibilities
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage all deck operations and cargo handling under the Master's command
- Plan and supervise pneumatic and/or mechanical self-discharge operations including compressors, screw conveyors, and discharge lines.
- Maintain cargo logs, stability calculations, and all discharge documentation per SMS requirements
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and ISPS at all times. Conduct safety drills, risk assessments, and toolbox talks for deck crew
- Supervise deck maintenance programme — hull, mooring, hatch covers, and cargo machinery. Liaise with port agents and terminal operators during port calls
- Maintain watch schedules and MLC 2006 rest hour compliance
- Supervise and develop junior officers and ratings
- Act as Ship Security Officer where required
